At the Vet
"A Dog Purpose" from a 6 year old boy. The story explains how a family's
dog was very old and sick with cancer. So they decided to euthanasize
the dog at home with the vet there. They worried about the 6 year old
boy and how he would react. When the dog died the family wondered
outloud about how the animal lives are shorter than humans and the
little boy piped up "I know why."
He then added "People are born so that they can learn how to live a good
life. -like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?" then
he continued "well dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have
to live as long."
God I started to tear right up!

Forgot to mentioned
morning. This is terrible for the people who rely on it such as kidney
dialysis and so on. Many people who use this service will suffer. I hope
this strike is resolved soon bc its the riders who suffer!

Hannukah and shoes...
(Hebrew Association of the Deaf). My friend Martin invited me and as you
can see I snapped some pictures of the kids crafted driedals and painted
Menorah. It was a nice event.
This morning on the way to work this a.m. as I exited the subway there
was this HUGE silver high heels. "Give Shoes Be Merry!" by Piperlime.com
for people to donate shoes. Good idea, too bad I didn't know about it a
few weeks ago when I got rid of a lot of things. Tsk but still a great
idea. Gawd I LOVE NY!

My Boss is so Sweet
my boss came to observe me teaching.
At the end of class all of her feedback was
positive. She really liked that I used power
points and the online blackboard for my
students to access the information they
need. I gotta admit I love the online Black-
board, its user friendly and environment
friendly. Anyways she gave me 1 piece of
advice for a teaching method for class
activity, to have the students create 2
rows where they stand face to face and
do the lesson exercise, then move down
1 space to face a new partner. That's
exactly what I needed. Often when I
ask the students for them 2 work with
someone new they stick to the same few
people. This suggestion will force them
to interact outside their "comfort zone."
But the nicest thing she did was give me
a copy of the book "Talking Hands" by
Margalit Fox. (Baba told me about this
new book last fall). Anyways the author
came to the school where I worked last
week and gave a presentation. I wasn't
able to attend due to other conflicts.
My boss even had the author autograph
the book for me including it being addressed
to me. Wasn't that so nice of her. All the
ASL teachers received a copy. I gave her
several hugs bc I was so taken back by her
surprise. I kept thanking her. And I look
forward to reading it maybe over winter
break. I know Baba will want to.
Last night Jack and I had a lovely dinner of
cheese tortillenis, with Vodka sauce and a
good bottle of Pignot Noir (red wine). Baba
got me hooked on this type of wine over
Thanksgiving. Its milder than Merlot which
suits my taste buds better.
Brr, its so cold today you can see your breath
materialize in the air, nice brisk weather!

A joke 2 tell anyone
dinner. Its really a cute joke, fun too.
A guy and a dwarf get into a car accident. When they approached, the
dwarf said "I'm not happy"
And the guy replied "well which one are you?"

Bleeding Hearts
to time, "am I going crazy?" the feelings
that accompanies the wide range of emotions
overwhelms you and you feel out of control.
And you feel like you're the only one who
happens to play the part well enough that
the world doesn't notice.
But you're not going crazy or are crazy,
neither am I. Its hard being a woman
sometimes.
This is from on Why Do Women Cry?
http://positivethoughts.com/whydowomencry.htm
Why do Women Cry?
A little boy asked his mother, "Why are
you crying?" "Because I'm a woman," she
told him. "I don't understand," he said.
His Mom just hugged him and said, "And
you never will."
Later the little boy asked his father, "Why
does mother seem to cry for no reason?"
"All women cry for no reason," was all his
dad could say.
The little boy grew up and became a man,
still wondering why women cry.
Finally he asked God. He said, "God, why
do women cry so easily?"
God said:
"When I made the woman she had to be
special.
I made her shoulders strong enough to carry
the weight of the world, yet gentle enough
to give comfort. --I thought this line was very graceful.
I gave her an inner strength to endure
childbirth and the rejection that many
times comes from her children. --how true,
I agree
I gave her a hardness that allows her to
keep going when everyone else gives up,
and take care of her family through sickness
and fatigue without complaining. -- Uh....
I gave her the sensitivity to love her
children under any and all circumstances,
even when her child has hurt her very badly.
-- I couldn't agree more
I gave her strength to carry her husband
through his faults and fashioned her from
his rib to protect his heart. --???
I gave her wisdom to know that a
good husband never hurts his wife, but
sometimes tests her strengths and her
resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly.
--Boy does he test! ;-) nah, Jacks a good
man.
And finally, I gave her a tear to shed. This
is hers exclusively to use whenever it is
needed." -- I like that, no permission needed.
"You see my son," said God, -blah, blah,
blah "the beauty of a woman is not in
the clothes she wears, the figure that
she carries, or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman must be seen in
her eyes, because that is the doorway to
her heart - the place where love resides."
--this last section lays on it on way too
thick even for me.
"Live as if you were to die tomorrow.
Learn as if you were to live forever."
- Mahatma Gandhi
Do I try?
Sounds like a candy Willy Woka would
make. I almost expect it to be like eating
a hot pie. Kinda like the one gum that
turned the girl into a rolling Blueberry.
I'm wearing these cool criss-cross
stocking, and it looks good with my black
calf-length boots.
I'm headed to NJ. My weekend was
spent at home and mostly indoors. Resting
with Jack. We re hooked on watching
Battle Star Galacia, I started it last year
but then let my netflix expire only to
renew it recently. I'm glad I did. I'm hooked.
If I never had cable again I could live
happily with netflix for the rest of my life.
I'm so behind in tv anyways, once we
finish BSG and Farscape (we re in season 3)
I still have Rome (seasons 2-???), Tudor
left to watch. I'm blissfully happy that
TV/Movies are taking these stories and
making them into trilogies or series!
Lately I haven't had much time to see
friends. One of my friends thinks I'm
purposely ignoring them but I've explained
I've been sick a lot since b4 Thanksgiving
w/sinuses and that I'm focus on work
doing my student teaching hrs. I have the
rest of my life to "have fun" but I only
have this year to finish my student teaching.
Its hard to strike a balance where everyone
is happy.
I'm also looking fwd 2 returning 2 PA in 3
weeks for my Uncles' 50th bday (they're
Fraternal twins). I've already found 1 gift
but haven't found the other Uncle's gift yet.
Hmm, 20 mins away from the campus, best
I review my notes b4 I teach class, latah!
