Tonight while watching "Extra"
they were doing a whole segment on
Australia and at one point the closed caption
reads "Breast-taking views."
Hmm, only in Australia eh? No wonder
Jack wants to go there some day :-]

Thesis nightmare...
"If you copy from 1 source that's plagarism. If you copy for more than 1 source, that's research"- I thought this was a funny quote that my Uncle Robbie told me now that I am buried under my thesis. God this is the 1st time I felt like a grad student. I now understand why you see grad students walking around in a daze, mumbling to themselves because that's me these days.
What's worse is that the 6 subjects that took me like 7 weeks to find, their video was on an usb stick and some how, some where I lost it while I was in PA!!! I mean seriously, could it get any worse? But the good news is, I met with Rusty and he says I need a minimum of 4 participants so I have 1 scheduled for this Sunday. Poor Baba she tore her house apart trying to find it and I didn't want her getting up and down on her knees because of her arthritis. If it turns up, great I will add it to my thesis. If it doesn't oh well, that's life. I am moving onward and upwards.
Not much else is new, work, thesis, sleep, work, thesis, sleep. Yep, exciting life I lead.

The Gods Are Against Me!
It seems like 1 thing after another today! First
the 2/3 train isn't running up or down town!
Then the automatic ticket dispenser ate 1/2
of my Amtrak ticket. Then in my rush to catch the
2:11pm train I boarded the WRONG ONE! Im currently
headed to Newark! Christ, do the Gods not want me
to go to PA? Don't I deserve a little R & R after being
so ILL last Friday with food poisoning?! That I spent
most of the weekend recovering and trying to
keep dry food down?

What's wrong with YOU?!
Is what I asked the young man standing outside of my apt the other night, yelling for his friend to come downstairs. I was leaving to go across the street to use the laundry mat and it was 11pm at night. I glared at him as I walked away. What's the matter with people, do they have no respect for anyone besides themselves? After I folded my laundry and was headed back, he was hanging around my building door. As I approached him I couldn't help myself and remarked "Could you NOT stand outside of my apt yelling? I mean do you have NO respect for anyone else? There are people trying to sleep, families with young children and you're out here yelling!' He mumbled apologies and I added "what's wrong with you?!" I was so annoyed but he seemed generally sorry for his behavior and I wasn't expecting that, instead I thought I would be given a major attitude but he seemed like he knew he was in the wrong. Funny I am deaf sure but my boyfriend is hearing and probably is everyone else in my building. I wasn't doing this because he was bothering me but because its wrong, period.
Yesterday I had the chance to meet Bill Cosby. He came to TC to speak about children and educational issues. I was his media tech for this event. I helped him with his wireless microphone. Boy, he's TALL. He has bad cataracts so at one point when I asked him if everything was okay, he replied in such a soft voice I couldn't tell, so I hopped onto the stage and turned on the mic, he then asked me if it was on in a quiet voice. Thinking something was wrong, I leaned over and said "TESTING 1, 2, 3...." He replied, "what are you doing? You can't talk into MY microphone." I thought oh boy, I made him mad, but then I realized he was teasing and the mic worked just fine. I told him, "I am sorry I am deaf. I just wanted to make sure your microphone works." He says "I know you're DEAF." I replied "Oh is it that obvious?" and he teased me a few more and then he took my hand and blew a raspberry on the back of my hand which of course the audience laughed. What a beautiful man he is. This event had terps for other deaf attendees so I was able to follow along with the discussion. Mr. Cosby is the same in real life as he is on the Cosby Show. He has the same voice, mannerism and way of speaking. He truly cares about children, especially children of color and challenges the teachers to strive to do their best. It was an honor to work for him yesterday. He and David Blaine have been the nicest celebrities I have met so far. Its amazing how many I've met or seen since moving here. I don't think that will ever wear off, being excited when meeting famous people.
Well I just finished giving my students their midterms, and Spring Break is officially ON! Tmw I can sleep in and tmw night there is a social event from my job as a media tech near where I live that I am thinking about going. Only if Eddie and Blondie go, because while I like some of my co-workers, not Mr. Coffee in particular its hard to be in a bar and follow hearing people as I can't hear well at all and its usually dark.
Sunday I leave for PA, I cannot wait to see my family!
